NAF / APE code

A code assigned to each French company to designate its main activity, useful for industry targeting.

The APE code (Activité Principale Exercée), drawn from the NAF classification, categorizes a company's main activity. It lets you filter a database by industry — for instance targeting every real-estate agency or every accounting firm.

It is a handy but imperfect filter: the code reflects declared activity, sometimes stale or too broad. It is often combined with other firmographic signals to refine industry targeting.
